The founder of College Prep Tutoring, Kathryn Adelstein, has been preparing students for standardized tests since 1996. Test-taking is a skill that can be taught and scores can improve dramatically through coaching and supervised practice.
Kathryn began her success with Kaplan Test Prep. After scoring above the 95th percentile in all sections of the GRE (math, verbal, analytical), she began teaching for Kaplan. She soon became one of the most sought-after instructors for private tutoring in the state of New York. Now that she has returned to San Diego, she is looking forward to helping you get into the college or university that is best for you.
At College Prep Tutoring, we prefer to work individually with students. A one-to-one program enables students to focus on building their strengths and overcoming their weaknesses. Each student will have his or her own customized strategies for test preparation and Test Day. In addition, Kathryn loves to help students write a powerful resume, expand and/or narrow their list of colleges, and assist with any/every stage of the writing process: from coming up with a good topic, to editing and revising, and to polishing the final draft.
A San Diego native, Kathryn attended The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, CA. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and her graduate degree in history at the University of Wisconsin.
Kathryn invites her top-scoring students to become Associate Tutors with College Prep Tutoring to work with students who are looking for tutoring for a particular subject in school or need help with remote learning (during the pandemic). All Associate Tutors have spent at least 20 hours in training with Kathryn, so they are able to apply her teaching methods in order to help their students gain a greater understanding of the subject matter that has been troubling them in school.
Kathryn has been preparing students for standardized tests since 1996.
